Event Overview:

MWA New Orleans 2023

MWA New Orleans 2023 will take place in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, one of the most exhilarating and colourful cities in the Americas. Located right on the Mississippi River, which stretches over 2,300 miles from northern Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans is world famous for its round-the-clock nightlife, vibrant live-music scene and unique cuisine which reflects its history as a melting pot of French, African and American cultures.

The New Orleans edition of Maritime Week Americas will be focused on traditional fuels, as well as new and emerging fuels and technologies, an area that everyone in the shipping and bunkering sectors is now having to embrace as international regulations and consumer demand ratchet up the pressure on ship owners and charterers to reduce emissions and run on ‘greener’ more sustainable fuels. LNG, biofuels and other new fuels will be examined, as will the emerging supply infrastructure across the Americas and take up on the demand side.

MWA New Orleans 2023 will begin on Monday, 12 June, 2023, with a one-day training course: The ship.energy Alternative Fuels Course, followed by the MWA23 Welcome Reception on Monday evening.

The MWA23 Conference will begin on Tuesday, 13 June, 2023, with networking coffee breaks and lunch, culminating in a fabulous evening reception.

On Wednesday, 14 June, 2023, the exhibition will begin with a specialist shipping and bunkering markets and pricing seminar, followed by a second day of highly focused conference sessions, including networking coffee breaks and lunch.

The grand finale to MWA New Orleans 2023 will be a spectacular carnival procession through the city’s historic French Quarter to the Mississippi River, followed by a jazz and dinner cruise on board the Natchez, one of New Orleans’ famous paddle steamers.

MWA New Orleans 2023 will embrace everything that gives New Orleans its exceptional reputation, from its live jazz to spicy food, to its festival atmosphere and of course ‘Old Man River’. As always, the conference will bring together bunkering and shipping people from all over the Americas and the Caribbean, in order to remind everyone why this remains the largest and most popular bunkering conference in the Americas.

Event in Profile

The ship.energy summit is returning to Spain in 2023 to deliver a high-level debate on the rate of progress in the decarbonisation of shipping and ports. This year’s event will be held on 27 April at the Higher Technical School of Naval Engineers, part of the prestigious Technical University of Madrid. It will continue looking at the global narrative of shipping’s energy transition, and, as always, the conference sessions will reference and be informed by case studies whether they be start-up initiatives or projects that are well on the way to commercialisation and scalability.

The main focus of the summit will be on fuel and technology supply chains. Speakers will discuss the decarbonisation challenges presented in each ‘link’ of these chains and will assess whether sufficient progress is being made to deliver on the IMO’s 2030 and 2050 targets. By taking a deliberately linear approach to these timelines, delegates will be able to assess where there are supply chain gaps to be closed and where the pace of development needs to be stepped up.
