As part of its long-standing commitment to restore service reliability and increase service frequency Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) is pleased to announce a comprehensive service upgrade to help restore supply chains, and address congestion and operational challenges at New Zealand and Fiji ports.
Launching in late April 2023, NPDL’s new Australia New Zealand Pacific (ANZPAC) service will provide fixed day fortnightly sailings with 3 x 1700 TEU vessels (The Capitaine Tasman, Capitaine Dampier, and Capitaine Tupaia) operating directly from the East Coast of Australia to New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga.

The new Australia New Zealand Pacific (ANZPAC) service will provide enhanced trade opportunities between Australia and New Zealand, and serve as a platform for Pacific Island exports.
The service has significant built-in buffer time, which is designed to improve supply chain reliability across the Pacific and between Australia and New Zealand.
While the new ANZPAC service rotation will start with Sydney / Melbourne / Auckland / Suva / Lautoka / Apia / Nukualofa / Tauranga, Brisbane will be added as the first Australian port once port disruption in New Zealand abates.
Implementation of changes to South Pacific service network
In addition to a return to direct services to and from Australia, the ANZPAC service will see the implementation of several other changes to their South Pacific service network. These include:
- The New Zealand to Samoa and American Samoa trades will have a dedicated service, in addition to ANZPAC. The service will operate on a 19-day frequency deploying the Capitaine Magellan catering to both break-bulk and containerised cargo.
- The New Zealand, French Polynesia and Tonga trades will be serviced with 21-day frequency deploying the Capitaine Kupe catering to both break-bulk and containerised cargo.
- The New Zealand Fiji trade will be serviced by a dedicated vessel (Capitaine Baret), in synchronisation with the ANZPAC service, providing weekly connections between New Zealand and Fiji.
- Fiji, Tuvalu, Wallis & Futuna and Kiribati trades will be serviced every 21 days on a Fiji, Tuvalu, Wallis & Futuna, Kiribati rotation, deploying the Southern Pearl.
- The New Zealand to New Caledonia and Vanuatu trades and Fiji to Vanuatu trade will continue to be serviced every 21 days by the Capitaine Wallis.
- For cargo ex Asia the revised service network, in conjunction with reduced port disruption in New Zealand will improve connectivity and transit time.
These network changes build on NPDL’s commitment to invest in providing more frequent, reliable shipping and supply chain services to the South Pacific.
