Strategic Marine signs contract with Mainprize Offshore for construction of Supa Swath vessels

Strategic Marine is delighted to announce the signing of a significant contract with Mainprize Offshore for the construction of six state-of-the-art Supa Swath vessels, with an option for an additional six vessels. Memorandum of Understanding This agreement follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Seawork in June, Europe’s largest on-water commercial marine and workboat exhibition and the recent deliveries of MO10 & MO 11, the latest additions to the Mainprize fleet earlier in 2024, and marks a strategic strengthening of their fleet capabilities and service offerings. The Supa Swath vessels, renowned for their superior stability, efficiency, and advanced technology, are designed to meet the highest standards of performance and versatility.  Supa Swath vessels These vessels offer unparalleled stability, making them ideal for demanding environments These vessels offer unparalleled stability, making them ideal for demanding environments, significant fuel savings with cutting-edge propulsion systems that contribute to sustainability goals, and the latest navigation and communication technologies for safer, more efficient operations. Additionally, their design supports a wide range of maritime activities, including transportation, offshore support, and research. Superior performance and versatility Mr. Bob Mainprize, Managing Director of Mainprize Offshore, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are thrilled to sign these contracts with Strategic Marine, which aligns with our vision of advancing maritime technology and expanding our operational capabilities with a reliable ship-building partner." He adds, "The Supa Swath vessels represent a significant investment in the future of our fleet, offering superior performance and versatility." Advancing maritime technology Mr. Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine, commented, "This contract underscores the strong partnership between our companies. We are confident that the Supa Swath vessels will greatly enhance Mainprize Offshore’s fleet and contribute to their continued success in the offshore renewables industry." The first of the six Supa Swath vessels is expected to be delivered in Q1 2026, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Strategic Marine and Mainprize Offshore. High-quality, innovative maritime solutions Mainprize Offshore would have effectively increased their fleet size to 17 strong by the end of 2026 This contract signifies Strategic Marine’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative maritime solutions that meet the evolving needs of the offshore industry. With the firm six vessel order, Mainprize Offshore would have effectively increased their fleet size to 17 strong by the end of 2026, with further potential to extend this figure to 21 by the end of 2028, placing the company in a prime position to support the growing O&M requirements in the European region. Good track record In addition to the earlier two Supa Swath vessels, namely MO10 and MO11, Strategic Marine would boast a potentially good track record of building these newly 'blank sheet of paper' designs as per Designer, Mr. James Walker of Walker Marine Design. "It's crazy to think this design started on a blank sheet of paper with Mainprize at a conference in Copenhagen in 2016. Eight years later there are eight Supa-SWATHs in operation in Europe, two recently completed by Strategic Marine, started operations, and more to follow soon," added Mr. James Walker.

Strategic Marine strengthens offshore wind presence with delivery of two 27m CTVs to Mainprize Offshore

Singapore-based boat builder Strategic Marine continues to extend their track record of successful deliveries in the offshore wind sector, as it completes deliveries of 2 new Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) for UK-based Mainprize Offshore Ltd. These two vessels are part of the leading UK-based CTV owner and operator’s ongoing fleet expansion and will add to its current fleet of 11 vessels. Increased efficiency Scheduled for operations in European waters from July 2024 onwards, both vessels will be carrying out crew transfers in Europe, often in higher waves resulting in less downtime, increased efficiency, increased power generation, and increased profits. Bob Mainprize commented, “The Offshore Ship Design, semi swath vessels are a result of the joint venture between Mainprize Offshore and Walker Marine Design, both having years of experience in the offshore sector." Timely boat building "We have invested a huge amount of time and capital to ensure we are delivered with the very best possible product for our clients.” “We are very pleased with our collaboration with Strategic Marine in this project and have been impressed with their well-deserved reputation for high quality and timely boat building as these new vessels join our fleet.” First-of-class CTV WMD and Mainprize Offshore launched the 27m CTV design in December 2022 using a ground-up design philosophy WMD and Mainprize Offshore launched the 27m CTV design in December 2022 using a ground-up design philosophy, taking onboard insights and expertise from key stakeholders. Bringing together over 20 years of experience from chartering, operating, and building crew transfer vessels, has resulted in an exceptionally well-designed first-of-class CTV suited to the requirements of the offshore wind industry. Semi-swath catamaran hull The “not” industry-norm semi-swath catamaran hull form has been extensively tank-tested using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and optimized by WMD’s team of experienced naval architects. This results in a hull design that combines class-leading seakeeping which improves operational performance and reduces fuel consumption and emissions which leaves a smaller carbon footprint. Servogear Controllable Pitch Propellers The drive train alone was the result of a 9-company worldwide partnership with WMD, Mainprize Offshore, Caterpillar and CJR “UK”, Strategic Marine and Trakindo “Singapore”, ZF “Germany”, Servogear “Norway”, Lyngaa “Denmark”. The vessel is powered by twin Caterpillar C32B engines driving Servogear Controllable Pitch Propellers in front of CJR flow-aligned rudders for additional efficiency for speed and push. Foredeck capacity Improved wheelhouse visibility with a maximum speed of 30 knots and a service speed of up to 27 knots The vessel features enhanced foredeck capacity with a deck cargo area of 110 sqm and a load capacity of 30 tonnes. Improved wheelhouse visibility a maximum speed of 30 knots and a service speed of up to 27 knots ensure safe and comfortable transits for three crew and up to 24 technical personnel to offshore wind farms and improved performance in challenging conditions. Strategic Marine is one of the first boat builders to be entrusted with executing WMD’s design fresh off the drawing board. Meeting industry needs Chan Eng Yew, Strategic Marine Chief Executive Officer says, “We are honoured to be chosen to build these vessels for a top-tier UK CTV operator such as Mainprize Offshore.” “I am proud that Strategic Marine has been able to use its proven production capabilities to transform this excellent design into a vessel that is well-catered to meet the industry’s needs.” Offshore wind sector Winning this order is a reinforcement of Strategic Marine’s position as an Asia-based aluminium boat builder, exemplifying the client’s confidence in Strategic Marine to build a boat that meets the strict UK offshore renewables sector’s requirements. Mainprize Offshore began servicing the offshore wind sector in 2012 with UK-based projects but swiftly moved into the European market.
