The idea of a separate international fishing fair in northern Norway was launched in 1998. In 1999, LofotFishing 1 was organised in Kong Øystein Hall in Kabelvåg.
The feedback and response from the exhibitors was very positive, and have therefore been followed up with new international fisheries fairs every other year.
